 Des TS #1 Date: May 6th (Tuesday) Location: Outside Kellogg Building Topic/Skill: Needs Assessment Feedback provided to the tutee: I asked my tutee basic "get-to-know" you questions, such as how long has he been living in the States and why he is studying English. I structured my needs assessment by having open conversation (tutee is in all advanced classes) about various topics ranging from simple (where he is from) to complex (the past and futures for our cultures). He is doing CIES so he can improve his English in preparation for starting his master's degree here at FSU. The main skills we'll be working on are pronunciation for effective communication (i.e. when he TAs or teaches classes) and academic writing. The main topics we'll be focusing are related to his field of studies, which includes but isn't limited to geopolitical terms and country names.
