Feedback provided to the tutee: I asked my tutee questions about their interests, strengths, and weaknesses in English, as well as their motivations for learning English. I also asked my tutee non-academic questions about themselves.
Lesson(s) about the tutee you learned: ESL students who genuinely want to improve in the target language want to be corrected (empathetically, of course) because it makes more apparent their potential for improvement and their ongoing progress. Also, ESL students struggle with knowing when to use a gerund or an infinitive.
