Jasmine Smith CO #1
Jasmine Smith CO #1
Date: May 8th Thursday
Topic/Skill: speech: The students were paired with a partner. Their project is to write a speech and make a powerpoint about their partners. We practiced their speeches today by working on pronunciation and correct tenses.
Teacher presentation: The teacher did a mini-lesson using a snake as a visual for when to put an ’s’. I loved the visual because it gives the brain a connection to grammar rules.
Classroom management: Used humor to instill control over the classroom. When a student had their phone out, she made a joke about the flashing light blinding her.
Materials:
Computers, powerpoint, canva
Student participation:
The students worked on their PowerPoints and practiced their speeches
Lessons on teaching I learned:
Confidence is super important when speaking a new language. One of the students would say something correctly then backtrack and say something else still correctly. She holds herself back in conversation, for she fears saying something wrong.
